Holiday Anthology vol. 2
I am delighted to be one of the authors in the new Exquisite Quills A Holiday Anthology, Vol. 2. This is a diverse, FREE collection of stories to warm your heart while you wait for the kids, for the oven to buzz, on a 15-minute break from work, or when you just need to hide for ten minutes from everyone! Every story is PG, but a few have a hint of zing.

Blurb: The calendar on the wall says 2014 but the holidays are a magical time where anything is possible when it comes to romance. Prepare to travel through snow or to a tropical setting with a little dash of fantasy sprinkled in to make your holiday reading enjoyable. This heart-warming collection of all new, very short stories is our way of saying happy holidays to you.

My story, A Kiss and a Promise, takes place at Yule and is a prequel to How To Woo… a Reluctant Bride. You get a glimpse of Lydia and her brother Harry when they were young and carefree. The story also introduces two sisters, Sophia and Cora, who will have their own stories in the “How To Woo” series. The scene is a Victorian sleighing party with an excursion to collect holly and mistletoe to decorate the house.

Sophia, the heroine of my story, is from an aristocratic family, and she is a lady. So she would never make demands like these…

Santa baby, I’m filling my stocking with a duplex, and checks
Sign your ‘X’ on the line…

Sophia might, however, wish for a kiss from a handsome young man under the mistletoe.

Best of all, the anthology is completely free. Consider it our present to you, the readers. You can pick up a free copy at Smashwords or Barnes and Noble,. Coming soon to iBooks and Kobo. (Kindle readers will have to get their copy through Smashwords. If you have any questions, ask in the comments below or fill out the contact form at the website.)

Memories of Fall Colors, Pt. 2 #MFRWhooks #MFRWauthor

MFRW Authors Blog

For last Wednesday’s MFRW Book Hooks, I shared some memories of autumn in Western Pennsylvania, the setting for my Historical Romance, Rogue’s Hostage. When I was a child, I loved to watch the leaves on the trees change color and drop off. We had maple trees on our street and the colors were spectacular. Today’s snippet continues that scene.

Lord, but she was morbid today. Her mood was due to a combination of weather and circumstance and surely would be temporary. She glanced at the view again, wishing Emile were here to see it. He would have been enchanted by the vista.

The fragrance of autumn, clear, crisp, and tangy, wafted on the air. Soon, very soon, winter’s frost would snuff out autumn’s fire, leaving the landscape bleak and brown until the first snowfall came to shield it with a pristine layer of white.

A flock of birds flew overhead, heading south for the winter. Mara watched them with envy, wishing she, too, could soar over the treetops.

Rogue's Hostage

Sensual Historical Romance

Blurb:

His hostage…

In 1758 the Pennsylvania frontier is wild, primitive and dangerous, where safety often lies at the end of a gun. Mara Dupré’s life crumbles when a French and Indian war party attacks her cabin, kills her husband, and takes her captive. Marching through the wilderness strengthens her resolve to flee, but she doesn’t count on her captor teaching her the meaning of courage and the tempting call of desire.

Her destiny…

French lieutenant Jacques Corbeau’s desire for his captive threatens what little honor he has left. But when Mara desperately offers herself to him in exchange for her freedom, he finds the strength to refuse and reclaims his lost self-respect. As the shadows of his past catch up to him, Jacques realizes that Mara, despite the odds, is the one true key to reclaiming his soul and banishing his past misdeeds forever.
